Installation fails TI10 Home

Thread needs solution

Hey there,
today i've bouhgt TrueImage10 Home. The installation failed with the error message
"timntr_2k.sys/timntr_2k.sys is missing". The wizzard told me to choose the location of the file. After some minutes with google, i've tried some workarounds to solve the problem but nothing seems to help.

The official help document

http://kb.acronis.com/content/4315

does not work. I've also tried the installation on another machine to get the timntr.sys for renaming but after i've choosen the file, the installation quits without another failure. It's like i've clicked "Cancel".

My system is an IBM ThinkCenter and runs with Windows XP SP2. An upgrade to SP3 is NOT possible.

Best regards from germany,

C. Reimann

Okay, the problem is solved. I've used the wrong version of timntr for renaming.

If you take a 64-Bit version of the file for use on a 32-Bit operating system, the installation will fail. Before you can try it with a correct version, you must delete the file timntr.sys from the WINDOWS/system32/drivers folder. After this, the installion wizzard will ask you again for the correct version of the file. I hope that helps to prevend others doing this error.

Thank's for reading ;)

Huh? I don't see any reference to32 or 64 bit files.... Never used 64 bit

From the official guide I didn't find any ini non zero without a pnf file. THere were some 0 files I moved. Gosh there were like 50 oem,inf files. around 15-18 they were acronis but all had matching pnf files.

I just don't have the time to fuss with this and the last thing I need is to screw up system files.

I only have an upgrade disk, which doesn't have the files on it.....

It should not be this complex!
