"The last backup has failed"... but it really hasn't?

Thread needs solution

I've done about a dozen backups on one of my machines trying to get one that Acronis thinks is good. I'm doing both a disk/partition backup and a file backup. They ALL say "the last backup has failed" after they complete. But the resulting *.tib files appear to be written correctly, and I can restore individual files from them just fine.

Validation also fails on these *.tib files.

I'm on build 6055... which I upgraded from the prior build of 2015.

What gives? I have Acronis True Image 2015 working fine on two other machines. This one is the only problematic one. They all have the same build.

Hmm... uninstalled... ran the cleanup utility... reinstalled... problem gone. Yay.
