Last build 9796 never fixed
Build 9796 BSOD issue never fixed and will probably never be now that a new build is out. This is the second time ATI has done this. This is where I tell Acronis **removed**. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR PURCHASE ANY ACRONIS PRODUCT EVER AGAIN!! **inappropriate content removed**

Only the second time; this is generally the pattern for many years: a new version every 12 months, which means work on the prior version stops a few months after release. Ther have been some exceptions but generally, the perfection of an existing version loses out to the development of the features on "next edition", fresh and imperfect. There is usually at least one fixer build released around mid or late winter -- which doesn't fix all the probs but at least some. If that build doesn't suit your needs, don't expect that version to ever make you happy.
Also, this is a family forum so try to keep your comments appropriately veiled. That Acronis has been caught with its noodle in the stroodle is beyond question, but totally artless language shouldn't fall upon artless ears.

Pray tell, what BSOD issue are you having a problem with?
What is the BSOD error code and text?
If you doodled your problem on the Wilders forum or here could you provide a link to the original post?

Well I hope this issue with the incompatibility of the 9796 build with Vista SP2 (as reported elsewhere) will be fixed by Acronis. As the older user manual says that the product supports "Vista all editions" this is what one expects. Note that in the newer version (currently available from their web site) of the manual it says "Vista SP1 all editions". If they to do not plan to fix the problem they either should withdraw the 9796 build or update the manual so it tells that the latest build (9796) of ATI Home 2009 only supports Vista up to SP1 but their earlier build actual works with SP2. I think it is fair that ATI Home 2009 would not support Win7 but ATI Home should be maintained to support the OSes it was announced that it supported.

Sadly, not likely to happen given past practice :( although I'd be terribly happy to be surprised on this score. And, in keeping with ATI 11 and ATI12/2009, version ATI 13/2010 seems to have serious bugs too in key, advertised features. If only Acronis stopped trying to have a new version every year and instead tried to make a product that really worked well, in the long run I think that would do more sales. As it is, Acronis is developing quite a reputation in some educated circles as a somewhat remorseless bug factory.
But maybe long term they aren't expecting to rely much on repeat home-user customers and corporate customers, once they buy into a program, they're kind of locked in due to the costs of putting the application and respective practices into place -- one reason why the mainframe stuff generally tends to suck as far as users are concerned.

There is a new release out. Has anybody tested it to see if it fixed the BSOD issue that was caused in the 9796 build? The core problem is with the TryAndDecide part of the ATI home 2009. Looking at all the new BSOD complaints even for the new ATI home 2010 I dumped my plan to buy one license to try on my sons new WIN7 box. If the quality is so poor I neither want to spent time or money.

Hello all,
Ben, I can confirm that we have fixed the issue with BSOD in the latest build of Acronis True Image Home 2009 (9809), which is available here. To get access to updates you should first register Acronis software.
Anyway, please feel free to ask if you have any questions concerning our products.
Best regards,
