Lenovo Tablet 2 / win8.0 boot media does not work

I have just bought the latest Trueimage and any rescue media I create with it (a CD or a USB stick) does not boot the Tablet 2 (win8.0).
I have the secure BIOS disabled.
Even if I go into the BIOS and set the CD drive or the USB stick to be at the top of the boot list, the T2 still just boots into the O/S.
The USB stick is FAT32 formatted. It is 2GB. The actual data size on it is 400MB (same as on the CD version).
Searching the Lenovo forums...

That suggests there is NO WAY to boot a Tablet 2 for image backup recovery, unless one has the win8 original DVD.
But no DVD comes with the T2.
So while one can create an image backup, there is no way to restore it.
The function in win8 which creates the boot media fails with error 0×80070057 (yes, all over the internet) so that route is also closed.
Surely Trueimage is capable of creating working boot media all by itself.
Note that I have the secure BIOS disabled.
That didn't work either (it hung) so he asked me to use the report collection function in TI itself...
