Made a backup and now files are gone
Hello,
I have backed up my files on a Windows 7 64-bit notebook. I used Acronis True Image Home 2010 (build 6.029). I backed up an external HDD (300 GB). It created 67 files á 4.7 GB.
Usually when I back up something with Acronis I can open the files, which it has created. It will show the partition and then the containing files. I have attached screenshots of what it now shows. When I open one of those files, Acronis has created, it will show me the partition, but if I go deeper it will show no files.
I hope someone knows what to do and can save my files or at least part of them. Thank you very much in advance.
Tenker

Hopefully your files are still there on the real D drive but doesn't show in the D in the Image file. And if the D drive is only for Data I would use something like Microsoft's Sync Toy or Karen's Replicator, both free, and backup the D drive before doing anything else.

First, is Windows 7 by chance simply hiding from view the backup TIB files? I don't use Win7 so I don't know if this could occur.
Also, somebody suggested that there may be some viruses or malware which specifically target the files created by various backup programs. I wonder if running an online virus scan to find any viruses which whatever AV program Heinz is using, plus running Malwarebytes' Antimalware might be in order, especially since Windows sees the external hard drive just fine?

Are you able to mount the file?
As has been suggested, check your settings for the display of system and hidden files.
Are you using the German version of 2010 or an English version on German W7?

Thanks for all your answers. I was using a freshly installed Win 7 version with Acronis, everything as German version. I installed Windows 7 new so there were no viruses or malware.
oracledba: If I click on the icon on the right hand side, it doesn't show any files at all. Just as you can see in my third picture. This works with all other images I made but not this one.
DwnNDrty: Are those programs able to open Acronis' *.tib files? I already did backup my drive and the old drive is deleted and gone. Now I only have those backup files. And it is in these *.tib files that Acronis has created after backup that I cannot see my files anymore. The original drive is gone.
GoneToPlaid: It is a new system with only a few programs so that there cannot be any viruses or malware. I can see the files in other backups I have created with Acronis, it is just this archive that doesn't work so I don't think it is Win7 that is hiding the files or anything.
bodgy: Both Win7 and Acronis are German.
I hope somebody can help me. My backup of my external drive has to be within these *.tib files. I hope there is a way to reconstruct them or at least part of them.

Heinz,
Have you tried mounting this archive - will it mount, are you able to validate it?
