Minimizing Acronis' footprint (how to run it only on demand?)

Thread needs solution

Acronis, when inactive, takes about 5% of my CPU cycles every few seconds. I wish to not have any of Acronis installed at boot-up in order to avoid that, since I back-up only every few days and rarely need to load the disk image or do a restore.

What steps can I take to prevent any Acronis components from loading during boot-up, and what do I need to put into a .bat file so that I can load Acronis manually when I need it?

I saw a suggestion elsewhere in these forums (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/36728) that in order to run Acronis manually it necessary to use the recover disk to start -- which I really hope isn't the case. I hope this complication isn't necessary, and that there is a way to start Acronis manually from materials that are already on my hard drive, and have its full functionality (except the scheduler, which I never use).

Hoping for your help and advice on this.

In the meantime,
go into Services and stop the service on
SynAgent
Nonstop backup
also you can disable this service.

In the help section, also disable the checking for updates

I haven't tried this, but I suppose you could make a Windows CMD file (W7/8/8.1) and perform a netstart - command on each of the Acronis Services, I think you would have to have them all set for manual start, but I seem to recall that scheduler doesn't work well when set to manual start.

Of course you'd also need a CMD file with netstop - entries for the services as well.
