Moved backup to different drive. Acronis still foudn them and did another incremental

Thread needs solution

I moved my backup folders from H: to G:. I then created new folders of the same name on H:.

When I ran Acronis it created another incremental in the folders on G: instead of a full in the new folders on H: where I told it to backup.

Why is this and how do I prevent it from happening again.

Tell us more about what methods you used>

For example, Was acronis running and involved?
did you use the Windows move command or the Acronis move command

Perhaps the best solution would have been to start a completely new task and cease to use the old existing task.

I used Move from Windows Explorer (drag and drop with right mouse button).

I did end up creating new tasks to resolve the problem but why does Acronis find the old backups on a different drive rather than create new backups on the drive and folder I specify? I can see scanning like this for a restore but not for a backup.

Also did not receive a notification of your post, even though I have Notify me when new comments are posted checked.

I believe what happened is that the Move option moved the official disk pointers which caused TI to move as well--but that is a guess on my part.

I believe if you had done a copy to H rather than a move and then a delete/recreate of G, TI would have continued with the old folder and with a full as the G folder would be new and empty.

I'll try that next time, thanks.
