my ATI 2009 freeze during process

Hi all,
I have an old version ATI 2009 , n having no problem to do full backup on my Old laptop until
this afternoon, my ATI 2009 was freeze (FYI WIindows XP) , and I have to re boot my laptop by pressing power button for a few second.
I assume the hard disk my have some bad sector since it is about 6 +years.

the process of back up was using ATI BOOT CD. and do full backup.

I noticed ATI 2009 have a feature to by pass or ignore bad sector, , if i do this, will it (full backup)
valid n can be restored and run smoothly in a new hard disK ?

or is a new version of "ATI 2014 or ""disk director " can fix this issue?
