Naming and erase settings?

Thread needs solution

I upgraded my 2009 version to the 2013 version a while back. I completely hate the 2013 but after a year of letting it sit dormant I decided since I paid for it I may as well use it. I've never seen such a user friendly version go to a complete waste of time in such a short time like this has.
My question is. I have 11 hard drives installed. I have for instance my C drive backing up as the "Name: System Drive", and it backs up every night onto another drive. I cloned the first on over to the next one and only changed the scheduling time. So why are 3 backing up with the name "Name: System Drive" but then all of the other are backing up as "Name: My_partitions_full_b1_s1_v1" and how can I make it backup with the name I need it to back up with. This happens with many of my drives. Only a few will be named like I need them to and then the others will not. How can I change these and how can I get it to do it right the first time so I am not wasting my time?

Also, The "Auto cleanup" just will not work. I find myself constantly going in and erasing older backups more than 7 days old when the settings clearly show that it is supposed to erase versions more than 7 days old?

Charles,
There were several improvements made to the product between versions 2009 and 2013. There were also some changes made which were necessary to support the additional functionality of the product and new features. Naming conventions was one of the major changes introduced during this period.

Please see the following Online Documentation for clarification:

Here is a picture of what I am talking about. See how some of these are named. Like "C_Monday_full_b1_s1_v1" and "C_Tuesday_full_b1_s1_v1" and so on. Then my Friday And Sunday are named "My_partitions_full_b1_s1_v1" even though in the settings they are showing that I have them named "C Friday" and "C Sunday". But they will not do anything but what I have shown above as "My_partitions_full_b1_s1_v1". Nothing I have done in the settings will correct this. I have deleted and for instance copied the "C_Monday" and only changed the scheduled time and it still will not do it.

On the "Delete after so many days". It never deletes anything. I end up having to go in and delete them myself. The settings are correct and I have gone over them many times. I have never had this version delete anything.

And I have a question about they way the program does it's naming with the full_b1_s1_v1. It is forcing me to use what the program says I have to do. I am the one programing it to do what I want. I know what I am telling it to do. I bought the software so why is it forcing me to do it this way when I want it to do it MY WAY. This is doing what I call "pulling a Microsoft" and taking control instead of letting me control it.

I know I sound frustrated and I don't mean to come across wrong. I am frustrated. The 2009 version was for the most part maintenance free. This version is not at all maintenance free.

The naming scheme is always appended to whatever filename you choose. While some don't like it, there were good reasons for doing this. This standardizes the information in the filename, making it easier for users and support people to identify the nature of the .tib file. That can be very useful when you have a problem or require assistance of Acronis Support or this forum.

Charles,
Before you pull your hair out, a few suggestions.

2009 was about almost no controls. 2012 and newer is all about controls. Anything and everything is tracked by the program meta-history file.

Each backup you create is performed from a task set for specific settings for that task. Once you have created the task and set its parameters, leave task alone and make NO changes to it. All deletes performed by the individual must be done from within the program. No deletes from within Win Explorer. The backup will point to a single specific target and the backup is tied to that specific target. If you want to use a different target, you will need to create its matching task.

If changes needed to a backup task, stop using the task and create a new task with the changes of configuration that you want.
A review of my signature link 2 and 2-A can help.

Here is a backup task which will work if left unaltered after creation. This is set to keep 4 full on a rotating basis but you can change the 4 to a number of your own choosing if you make the number change during task creation.
GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains). The 4 is user choice.

In the signature link 2-A, there is a whole bunch of option examples listed as GH# links. These can help the learning curve from 2009. The new 2015 is in beta testing and it will be even different again. You may want to just wait until 2015 is released and get more up-do-date and learn its new features which will be different from 2009 or 2013. Good luck from another user.
