Nasty error message when booting ATIH2010

Thread needs solution

/bin/ipwatchd error whilst loading shared libraries libpcap.so.09.4 cannot open shared object file, no such file or directory

I have a W7 based system and it is pretty simple to describe: 2 x 300G Discs in RAID1 (Windows Raid-ing) and 2 x 1.3TB Discs also in RAID 1. As these are software raids they have to be dynamic discs. I am yet to feel happy that TI2010 will be able to restore the 2 x 300G satisfactorily, but have yet to read the manual. (Any info on that count would be gratefully received...)

HOWEVER the current problem I have hit is building and booting from a Bootable Rescue Media. During the boot from the BRM, I get the above error message (briefly, on the way up)

On the same topic, is the WinPE ISO disc the equivalent of the CD which would come with the retail package?

  • Would that be preferable to the BRM ?  I used BRM on v11 for the last 2 years and restored my XP system on a number of occasions for new drives or dodgy stuff which did not work !

This error message is not important, is totally innocuous, and can be ignored - there is no problem which occurs.

You need the Plus Pack to support dynamic volumes.

The WinPE ISO is not equivalent to the CD which comes with the retail package. The bootable media that comes with the retail package, as well as the one created with the bootable media builder of TI, and also the downloadable ISO file from your account, are are Linux-based distributions (with different types of Linux loaders/kernels involved). The WinPE ISO that can be made with the WinPE ISO builder, which is part of the Plus Pack, is based on Vista drivers are core operating elements, so is a "Windows" environment as opposed to a Linux envirornment. It has vastly better hardware support (many more drivers), as well as allowing you access to a number of 32-bit Windows tools (regedit, chkdsk, diskpart, etc.) from the bootable environment - which can be very useful in a recovery situation. I personally use the WinPE ISO exclusively.

You don't get this error message with WinPE ISO, as it is related to the Linux environment.

The basic tutorial on creating a WinPE ISO build is here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/9449

An additional tutorial on customizing a WinPE ISO build with keyboard and language support is here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/9892

Yes, I had found that I needed Plus Pack and had already got it. Happy about the error messages being innocuous.

I have also tried downloading and booting from the ISO disc, but as it is bare 2010, it just gives a big fat error screen about not supporting Dyanamic Disks.

I shall now build a WinPE ISO - it looks pretty straightforward (famous last words)

I have posted a new thread about RAID 1 drives, hope you can answer my question.

Thankyou....
