Need Clarification

Thread needs solution

I just bought, but have not yet installed True Image 2010. I'm not clear on whether I will be able to do the following, without making more-advanced system changes (e.g., BIOS), which I am not comfortable doing. Here is what I want to be able to do:

- A full image backup of my hard drive to an external hard drive
- Periodic incremental (or possibly differential) backups
- Then: If I should have a hard disk crash - -
. . Will I be able to restore, from the external drive's image(s) to a newly-installed drive?

If so, from what will my PC boot (before the restore), so I can access the external drive? Is that what the "rescue disk" is for?

In other words, what are the SPECIFIC STEPS I would take, once a new, replacement hard drive is installed, in order to restore, from the backup on the external drive, to the new main hard drive?

Thanks.

Joe,

Everything you want is routine for TrueImage Home.

Check my signature index below and read as much as you have the time in item #7--especially item 7A & 7B but all the other items in 7 would be helpful.

I would also suggest you review oracledba's Chain2Gen helper program for TrueImage Home. I use the program and find it helpful.
