Need Drive mapping help
Still trying to get NAS functionality. Some Recommend using the IP address instead of \\server\share.
Im running Win XP SP3 and build 6154 of ATIH 2012.
Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to map the drive using IP address? Even when I tell Acronis where to save the file with IP, it just renames it to the \\server\share - doesn't 'stick' with the new address. Do I have to change the name of the NAS (a dlink 323)? If I un-map the drive and try to rename it I have NO option to use IP?!
Maybe this is simple but I sure can't figure it out
Thanks

2012 still has issues with some name-brand NAS implementations. The //Server/share and IP did not work for me. To get it to work, I established a windows share on the NAS, placed the NAS on the same subnet as the source box and selected ‘browse’ from the backup destination dropdown pointed to the windows share.

"established a windows share on the NAS, placed the NAS on the same subnet as the source box"
I don't know how to do this - any suggestions on how to learn?
The setup page of my NAS doesn't seem to have this depth of features - I'll keep looking. I am guessing that my NAS is already on the same subnet as all the other things on the LAN
Thanks

Still can't figure this out! Using a D-Link DNS 323. Anybody have the time to tutor me on this??
