Need Some Cloning advice

Thread needs solution

This question pertains to ATIH 2012. I have a 150Gig HDD that is divided into two partitions D: and E: The D: partition is Programs while the E: partition is music, photos etc.
The entire HDD is apparently dieing a slow death as it currently will not let the system go past the motherboard splash screen. It will however function if I unplug it then plug it in once the Windows 7 log in screen appears by enabling hot plugging in BIOS.
I would like to clone these partitions on to a new HDD I purchased. The operating system, (C:) is on it's own dedicated SSD.Since the source drive will only function as described above and given that there will be reboots required;will this be possible?

Or should I just do a straight-forward copy to the new drive that has been partitioned and then re-assign drive letters within Windows and cross my fingers?

Thank you in advance.

If I understand correctly, the 150 is simply a data disk wihtout boot features.
If true, I would boot from the 2012 TI Recovery Cd and perform a full and complete backup of the 150 (both partitions)
After the backup, still booted from the CD,
and then restore the TI backup onto a new storage disk.

After the restore, you may need perform a disk check for disk errors as possibly some disk errors may have been transferred to the new disk.

Correct it is not a system disk;that is separate. O.K. great the booting from a recovery disk makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for the response!

Just to clarify. Yes, it is possible to restore only the single partitons backup into a specific partition on another disk.
My signature link #3 lists several examples.
