Network support of WinPE boot medium?

Thread needs solution

Hi all, after a long discussion with the support I got a plus pack. Now I got a problem with it, I created a WinPE 3.0 boot medium and integrated several drivers (e.g. for network, graphics, keyboards, etc.). But when I am using the boot medium, there is no network neighborhood or something. And in the options there is no possibility to set any network options - I can just change the fonts. Am I doing something wrong? If I am using the console of the WinPE I can ping my otehr computers, so I guess the drivers are working. Anybody else got that problem? Does the WinPE boot medium have support for a network?

Yes, there is network support in the WinPE3.0 environment, but neither the A43 file manager nor Acronis True Image provide a method to browse a network. Since you can ping your other computers then networking is functioning properly for you.

In True Image you need to type in the UNC of a PC to access it (\\ComputerName\ShareName) whenever you are browsing for a backup or for a location to store a backup. For example, if you need to restore a backup located on a PC named server in a folder named Backups then when you browse for the backup, type \\server\Backups in the Browse for Location dialog box.

Additionally, from a command prompt you can map a network drive using the net use command. Type net use /? to see the syntax of the command. A mapped drive will show up properly in the A43 file manager but the latest build of TI 2011 will show the mapped drive as disconnected. Acronis is aware of this issue and will fix it in the next build. Meanwhile, using the UNC path is the only method that works with TI 2011.

Thanks for your answer Mark, I wasn't sure if the WinPE does have any options for the network. I know that the UNC paths are working, but to browse in a GUI is somehow more comfortable. I hope they will fix it soon.
