New build released today -- 7046

Now someone brave could try out how 7046 works.
Personally I am not so adventurous :)

I took the plunge (feeling lucky today)!

Just installed, rebooted, and making a new full backup as I write this. Will post any issues I come across.

I only use the bootable media and for me it went from bad to worse. With release 6053 the bootable media has problems with usb keyboards but is working otherwise, using release 7046 i found that using the bootable media i cannot see any shares on my QNAP NAS which is my backup target and if i try to to type in the unc path for the share directly in the selection dialog characters i type get removed. If i select a partition on a hard drive it presents the user / password dialog for network shares.
Acronis TrueImage 2010 continues to be one big disappointment, i consider the money i spent for it a total loss. The last version working for me is TI 2009 release 9809 and i will never spent money on a Acronis produkt again if this does not get resolved.
Acronis should remember that Windows 7 Professional and up have a built-in *WORKING* solution with *WORKING* boot media...

Have to agree. Got fed up with waiting for yet another fix. I am using Windows 7 Professional and just found out how snug the built-in backup solution works. No need for me to install any 3rd party software any more.

Think I'll wait too for the braver amongst us to try out the new build and report back. To paraphrase another forum member regarding upgrades and new builds "the GUI is usually updated, but the problems usually remain the same. Everything that didn't work before, still doesn't work, but in a different colour". Sheer class!

Just a quick comment that the new build has at last enabled me to backup my machine, which is running Windows 7 64 bit. With the prior released build, even with the updated SnapAPI drivers, I was unable to finish creating any system backup without apparent disk read errors. (As it's a fairly new machine I really didn't think the disks themselves were at fault. The fact that build 7046 works without those errors rather supports that view.)

For what it's worth, I simply installed the new build over the old one, as now recommended by the knowledge base article.

I am, putting it mildly, somewhat relieved to have a working version of the software at last.

Having installed most of the builds of TrueImage since version 8, and now having a new PC running Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) with an ASUS P6T motherboard, I thought I would give this latest build 7046 a try. My use of it is perhaps not typical in that I do not use a RAID configuration and all of my backups are full and run scheduled daily as well as manually when deemed appropriate.

Before installing I uninstalled the previous version then running msconfig.exe disabled all in the startup group and all non Microsoft services. I also paused Kaspersky antivirus and shut down ZoneAlarm Pro. Installed TrueImage 2010, build 7046 and it worked well. Reconfigured my scheduled tasks.

Initially my concern centered on using it on a 64-bit system but everything worked well. I see no issues with build 7046.

Best regards,

Bruce

I cannot get build 7046 to install on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit PC. First, I tried installing over build 6053 only to receive a message saying I had to turn off Windows Explorer to get the installation to proceed. I used Process Explorer to kill Windows Explorer and tried again but build 7046 still refused to install. Next, I uninstalled build 6053 then removed any lingering traces of Acronis True Image Home 2010. I tried several times to install build 7046, including turning off my Avast antivirus and PC Tools firewall. In each instance, the installation process came to a halt after the two desktop shortcut icons appeared. After a long wait, the installation process reversed itself. A message said the installation had been interrupted (with no indication what caused it) and to try again. I repeated this process several times but build 7046 refuses to install on this PC and I have no idea what the problem is.

I made similar experiences with 7046 (Win7 32bit) - The installer says a file is in use by Windows Explorer but continue should work (and the file is installed after a reboot, at least the shown information tells this). I'm installing over the previous build of TI 2010, btw.

After the installer finished successfully, I was told to reboot which went fine. After the login I clicked on the Acronis TrueImage 2010 icon and nothing happens. Windows tells me that the link to TrueImageLauncher.exe does exist.

OK, second try resulted in the a rollback like you noticed. The I logged off and used the 'real' Administrator account to install - which worked flawlessly. I am now online again with TI and backups work fine.

Karen,

Two things you might want to try.

1. Make sure that the system temporary folder under your User_Name\AppData\Local\Temp is as empty as Windows will allow.

2. This link might also prove helpful

With Windows 7, to install or run any program, it is usually better to r-click the .exe file or program shortcut, and choose Run As Admin even if your log on status is Admin.

Installed 7046 over my old installation with no problem in Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate, but NONE of the problems I have posted about on this board have been fixed. What is the point???
Hopefully "someone" has had one of their problems fixed - not moi.

So far, I've had good results with build 7046. I've been very critical of Acronis in the past, but now the product is finally usable. I'll still be critical of them for taking 8-9 months to finally make it usable. There are no excuses for showing so little care for so long. However, ATI2010 is finally a good product now for me (haven't tried non-stop backup yet).

I finally succeeded in getting build 7046 installed but it's absurd I had to go the route I did. I restored my PC to a backup image I made in mid-January when my PC was new and just after I'd installed all the usual programs. I was then able to get build 7046 to install successfully over build 6053. I've spent the last few hours updating my files and other programs so they're current. It's too soon to tell whether build 7046 is an improvement or not. I keenly hope TIH 2010's nonstop backup feature will work reliably now. It was completely undependable on my PC with build 6053.
