New TIH Build 9809 incremental takes hours for 1 gig backup

Thread needs solution

I installed the latest 9809 build of TIH 2009 yesterday & began doing an incremental backup to an existing full image backup from before the upgrade.

It's more than two hours & it's only ~60% through a 1-2 gig backup!

What's going on & what should I do?

Running under XP-Pro

If validation is also being performed, it will validate the new and the old which takes time.
A backup to another internal disk is the fastest; next is an eSata and slowest to an external usb.
If the backup is also occurring over traffic such as anti-virus or spyware software, overhead is involved.

Let it run to completion--even if overnight.

I do not have it set to validate during backup. Even tho I'm backing up to an external via USB, the same incremental backups always took about an hour (involving about 1-3 gig). Now it takes about 4 hrs since my upgrade to the latest version.

So why is it I'm getting this severe delay when nothing else has changed in my PC?

I went in and checked my Acronis settings & raised the Priority from Low to High when backing up. Hopefully, this will help some, but it still doesn't explain the delays I'm getting.

Thanx for any further input you can provide.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting, I will be happy to help.

Michael,

Could you please create a new task specifying the internal drive as a destination for the backup? Please compare the performance and let us know the results. This will help to localize the issue, whether it's related to low backup creation speed or it's related to low transferring speed via USB port.
Grover,
