Thread needs solution

Please can somebody help. I have been doing a Partition Back up and a File Back up onto an external 500Gb Hard disk using the single version. My question do I need to do both backups , does the Partition backup includes all my data files which are backed up in the file back up. At the moment I run out of disk space when I try to do the second back up

You can restore files from partition backup, but not vice versa, i.e. you can't restore you computer entirely from file backup only. So you can either do partition backup only, or perform volume backup excluding data folders and backup data separately as files.

Many thanks. I thought this might be the case so if I make the partition bootable I will be able to restore completely to a new Hard Disk if the current one crashes out - is this correct

The safest option from which to restore following a disk failure is a full disk backup, in which the entire disk ie selected (not just individual partitions).
