Newbie. Appreciate help with terms and definitions

Thread needs solution

I need help in defining and understanding the terms used to name operations in TI Home 10.

First here is what I want to accomplish.
1. Create image of drive C
2.Back up drive C: (full) (separate operation?)
3. Make subsequent backups (differential backups)

At present I have a 1Tb disk partitioned to 2 partitions
Will be adding a second 1Tb disk the first of next week. (Both on the same computer. Eventually an off site backup will also be used)

Now in the event of a failure of Windows XP can I reconstruct my
Computer with this above derived data?

If I do a back up I'm not doing an image,( right?)
A back up only gives me files (correct?) not a working disk.

An image gives me a working disk but only for the time it was made.

If anybody can point me to a checklist or list of definitions about the terms used here,

I'd appreciate it! TIA

Alvah

Backup and Image are the same in True Image. And usually you would make an Image of the entire disk. True Image will also let you backup Files and Folders only.

Try the Sticky at the top by GroverH - lots of useful information there.
