Nonstop-backup stopped - can't get it working anymore

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

my nonstop-backup worked properly up to now, but a few days ago when starting my PC there appeared the message "nonstop-backup has stopped".

I have tried to start the backup for several times, but anything I tried failed. The next day the same procedure.

I supposed, there could be a problem with the (internal) backup drive, but my examination found no problem at all.

Then I tried to delete the nonstop-backup job und define a new one. Obviously something went wrong and now there is a backup job that won't work and even can't be deleted. Clicking on the job with the right mouse button opens a submenue, but the only line there is to read says "delete". If I chose this, I get a window that asks me to confirm, bet then nothing happens.

What can I do to get this running again?

Thank you for answering!

Reinhold, welcome to these user forums.

Open C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts in Windows Explorer and then open each .TIS file that you find there in Notepad and look for the NonStop Backup task name near the top of the file inside <display> task name </display> brackets.

Once you find the correct .TIS file for your NSB task, then try deleting this file - do this while the main ATIH application is not active, then the task should be gone when you restart the application.

I would recommend running CHKDSK /R against both the source drive and the drive where your NSB backup is being stored to ensure that you have no filesystem or sector errors on these drives.

Reinhold, another solution for the problem would be to wipe out Acronis settings completely using the CleanUp tool, delete the hidden folder "Time Explorer Storage" where the backups are stored, reboot the computer and start over: install Acronis True Image anew and configure a new Nonstop backup task.

The other backups, unrelated to Nonstop backup, would need to be reconfigured. If they do not appear automatically in the list after reinstallation, open "Add backup" menu, select Add existing backup and point it to the location of the previously created backups, then use Reconfigure option to recreate backup schedule and other settings.
