Nothing changed but large file was created

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis home 2019. I setup a schedule as a test. The schedule was configured as follows:

- Periodically
- Every 10 min
- After previous running was started
- Incremental

It properly backed up the folder and after I made some changes it made more backup files. Now I have not made any changes but it continues to make a 13K file every 10 min.

If I make the folder just one file then it makes 1K or 2K files.

Does anyone know why it would make such a large file when nothing has changed?

How is ATI 2019 working for you :-)

Seriously, if your backup is a disk backup or a filel backup that include system related folders, it is pretty easy to have changes doing noting. I backup my system every day and have close to a GB of changes, "doing nothing": windows indexes and logs, page file, other program logs and settings, etc.

Sorry, 2009.

I have told it to backup c:\temp only. In c:\temp I put a few files. I have not changed any of the files and there are no hidden files. The backup is "My Data (files and folders).

Whenever you create a backup, there is always a file being created. I don' t know the minimum file size.
You can unhide the hidden files and folders, then double click on the create TIB file to see what is in each backup file.

I agree the original backup would create a file, but what I'm talking about is the additional files created each period. Is there something I need to select because there is no reason to create those if nothing has changed?

You see, the TIB is a file format with some overhead, so ATI always creates a TIB file and there always a minimum file size. Even backing up a single document that doesn't change...

Also, I notice that if I re-boot, the scheduled task does not start. I suspect there is someplace where I need to tell Acronis to start the task at boot time. Can anyone give me some guidance on that?
