Old version serial number
My old XP computer died. I am installing software on its replacement. When loading True Image 2009 it asks for the serial number which I enter. It then says "You are about to upgrade your old version of the Acronis product. Please enter the serial number for the old version." I don't have any way to recover an old serial number. What the heck is going on here? My account with Acronis says I have 4 products registered but I cant find any way to see them or find a serial number.
This is truly annoying. Anyone know what I have to do?

Yes you do have to save both since you have purchased an upgrade. Simply having to add the old version is proof that you qualify for the upgrade. Many vendors take that approach including Microsoft.
The serial number is now 71 characters when you include the hyphens.

As you have an upgrade version of TI then yes you will need both serial numbers for every install.
Having been bitten with other software I tend to do two things with web download products.
1. I have a email folder in my email program where I store all my online download licence/serial numbers.
2. I make a txt file with the number as the file name, then also paste the number in the body of the document and save this to my backup drive as a individual file.
Of course this fails if everything dies at the same time, but it is a bit of redundancy.

If you save your serials like bodgy does (and I do as well) then all you have to do is cut and paste the serial numbers. Use Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste. Right click often doesn't work in serial number boxes.
There are many panic posts on the TI forum because the users don't treat serial numbers and downloaded software install files with the care and respect that they deserve. Disk goes away, some issue occurs with the backup and a reinstall of OS and Apps is necessary but it can't be done because the serial numbers and install files for downloaded apps are lost - panic!

I have the same problem only I have only ONE serial number listed on my account.
I CANNOT install Acronis. Anyone here want to walk me through it?

I've checked our registration and order base and was not able to trace any orders except Acronis True Image 2009 Upgrade.
Could you please clarify what product you're upgraded from to Acronis True Image 2009 Home and where this full previous version was purchased?

I have identical problem as earlier poster. I've purchased 2010 and somehow successfully upgraded it from 11 on my main machine (It didn't ask me for an old serial number that I recall), but now I want to load it onto a machine at my weekend location and am being asked for my old serial number. 11 doesn't show it in the help menu, so I can't install. What now?

If you registered your TI11 purchase in your Acronis account, you'll be able to log on and download the serail number.
Other than that you'll have to send all your details - name, invoice date, where purchased from, payment method and info to Acronis Sales.

I suggest you either email Sales or contact Chat with your purchasing details, they should then be able to fix the licence problem.

I ran into this issue with trying to reinstall my paid-for ATI2009 Upgrade. The installer kept asking for the serial number of the previous product. Well, it turned out that I had uninstalled Maxtor Maxblast (program is based on Acronis ATI) and apparent the Maxblast CD got thrown out with the trash long ago. As mentioned in other threads, the licensing methodology has been changed in ATI versions subsequent to ATI2009, so this issue doesn't affect ATI2010 users.
So, at least as far as ATI2009 Upgrade is concerned, its installer didn't see any qualifying installed product (Maxblast in this case) for the upgrade to automatically install using just the serial number provided when you purchased the upgrade. Thus, if you previously had Maxblast or similar program installed (Seagate provided a similar program with their hard disks) but that program no longer is present and you can't reinstall it for lack of the CD which came with your hard drive, then you will not be able to reinstall your paid-for ATI2009 Upgrade unless you first reinstall Maxblast or the equivalent Seagate drive cloning software.
Anyway, try installing MaxBlast, reboot, and then see if you can run the ATI installer without it asking you for a previous serial number. Once you get ATI installed and have rebooted, then uninstall MaxBlast since it loads a low level driver which isn't needed now that ATI is installed.

This may be correct in some cases but not in all. I purchased Acronis TI 11 UK Version together with an extended download service and a back up disk. My machine died and I tried to install it on the new one. Besides asking for the serial number, which I have on my order form, it also asked for the serial number of the product from which I had upgraded. This is rather strange, as I upgraded from Seagate Disk Wizard, which is another Acronis product given away for free by Seagate.

Does anybody know where I can locate the registration number in my Version 9 ? Also, Acronis Inc. appeared to be a good company when they first started although the help files have always sucked. I was acquainted with somebody in Customer Support in the Burlington Ma. office from having called about 6 times over the course of 2 years. I live close by in Massachusetts as well. I do not know what happens to men when they reach a certain level of success but now the Executive Management of Acronis are a-holes and they have now outsourced the Customer Support that was manned by Americans and provided Americans with some employment. So the Traitors decided to bolster India's economy, giving Indians the jobs. So it appears that Acronis Executive Management are not just a-holes but are also Traitors to their own Country and Fellow Citizens. As Americans we need to re-institute Boycotting and teach companies not to act against the best interests of "OUR COUNTRY" !!! or tell them to move their companies lot , stock & barrel to the Country they decide to allie themselves with....period!

In v9 I thought your registration number still appeared when 'help/about' was selected. However if you have registered your copies of TI then the serial number will be available to you under your account log in.
Your off topic argument about traitors is somewhat out of whack, as Acronis are originally a Russian company, therefore your theory is self defeating - unless of course your a a russo-american, and even then it is off kilter.

I don't go off half cocked like most young guys that make statements and don't back it up with referencable info . Acronis is an American Company ! I can find no info on Acronis Inc. indicating that it was incorporated in any other place other than in the United States. Which legally makes it an American Company. If you have additional info to enlighten me to that end . I would be happy to receive it. For your edification Bodgy, there is no legal designation of a business entity of Russo-American.
It's seems that from the Founders Bios on the Acronis site and...very impressive Bios indeed, that they are in fact Russian Executives but that doesn't make it a Russian Company . Age is extremely important in our society. I can cite many circumstances legally, where a person can not participate in many activities due to age and if they do. In some circumstances it would be considered a crime like , drinking alcohol for example . So age does matter.

I manage an IT company and It gets seriously disconcerting dealing with personnel of other companies that don't know their ass (not profanity ! Not only did I beta test TI 9, but also still have a copy.
Just for you I will uninstall 2009 from my XP system and re-install v9. I'm reasonably sure that it was in a mid build of TI11 that the serial number information was removed though it is back in 2010.
I could be wrong, as I tend to 'forget' about previous builds.

I appreciate it Bodgy but it's not necessary Bodgy. I've vented and at least I had the pleasure of a response from somebody who took an interest. I suppose I could't have vented my frustration about Acronis if you hadn't. I've googled it with no luck and it appears even Tech Support doesn't know or should I say "hasn't been trained in it" or at least that's what the male in India said. I'm probably going to look for something compatible to TI. You know as well as I that some other criminals will decompile it or already have decompiled it and will rebuild it as their own. I just checked builds 9,709 though 9,809 (not including 9,788) and none of them display the serial number.
If you registered TI 2009 in your Acronis account, you should be able to get the serial number from there.

Acronis True Image Home 2009 stopped working. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled with the download from acronis site. But it is asking me for the "old SN" and I've never upgraded it (never had that problem before). I got the build 9796, I also read the whole forums that might have something to do with the problem but nothing.
What I'm suppose to do now?

At last i have contacted Acronis, and they have made an solution by buying an update, other sloution were all for nothing.
But if it is an registered version you can login at the Acronis site and download the existing version you bought, or contacted them with your registration code and the invoice for 2009, for an solution.

Dear all -
I have a simlar issue to may of ypu. Bought an upgrade to 2011 last Feb and the machine on which it resdied died. Still have install file but am nit sure what i upgraded from. Have Maxtor USB drives with MaxBlast software and a seagate Free Agent Desk with their software on it . All the support pages talk about upgrading to 2011 but am happy with 2010 9or was until old system died). Any advice on how i reisnatll the 2010 upgrade and get beyond the part where it asks for a serial number for the old version? Whcih if any of the old items do i need to reinstall first.

@ Daniel,
If you registered your copies of TI, then all your serial numbers will be available for you to download from your account. The only problem will be if you orginally used either Seagate or Western Digital's imaging version of TI 2009 and then upgraded to the full version of TI.
If that is the case you will need to either re-install the OEM software and then install your upgrade, or contact Support with your details.

I just bought Acronis Disk Director 11 Home Upgrade (Français) to upgrade my Acronis Disk Director 10.0 (formerly bought inside package Micro Application Disk Expert)
I got an Acronis Disk Director 11 Home Upgrade serial number => OK
But when I try the installation, my Acronis Disk Director 10.0 serial number doesn't work. it is an OEM number that covers both DD and TI.
I gave this OEM number to Ilya by a private message for my Acronis True Image.
Could you give me an Acronis Disk Director 10.0 serial number which will work for my upgrade installation of Disk Director 11?

My Vista computer crashed. I bought the acronis true image home and installed it as an upgrade. When loading True Image 2011 it asks for the serial number which I enter. I found 3 serial numbers in your Acronis web-account. I would really appreciate if you could try installing the program one more time and get your serial numbers the following way:
1. Go to www.acronis.com
2. Log in to your web-account.
3. Click on My Products and Downloads in the left column.
You will then have access to your program serial numbers and download links.
