Online Backup not using "excludes"

I upgraded to AH 2011, then changed my mind, switched back to AH2010. When I tried to access my online backup, I could browse it, but not alter the settings. So I started a "new computer" (my same one, new name) and built a "what to backup" selection to point to a whole partition, and started the job.

Realizing that it would take forever, I then modified the partition folder structure to have a "ZZ-DONT-BACKUP" folder, "ZZ-NOT-IMPORTANT" folder and so on and added Excludes for those folders.

The problem is that the system seems to be ignoring the Excludes. They seem well formed; I copied the paths out of Windows Explorer and added "\*.*".

What else might be going wrong? Is the program fixated on the first selection criteria, and does not know to use the new criteria, with the Excludes?

How might I correct this without having to restart my online backup?
