Online Backup - Unrealistic Backup Time

My Computer is the HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC ( laptop )

I have begun to use my on-line storage facility and have successfully completed my first full systems on-line backup. However to facilitate this I had to keep my Laptop alive continuously for nearly 3 days!
It was a painfully slow job.

Why does it take so agonisingly long for Acronis to receive my backup?

In the meantime I have changed my settings to (once per month) but I thought I would be able to set the system to at least create incremental backups to the full system after the first backup.

I can find no controls to do this?
When it kicked in to do its second backup-refresh it calculated another nearly 3 days to perform the whole operation again!

There must be someone out there please with the systems knowledge to advise.

PS.

I have reset my operation Priority from Low to High although I don't really know if this will just prevent me from doing other work while the operation is in progress, or if it will assist the transfer speed?

As before I would be grateful of any advice.
