Outlook Email Not Restoring
I am having what can only be described as close to a nervous breakdown. I purchased TI to prevent stress but I am thinking TI may have inadvertdedly caused it! Anyway my ongoing saga is as follows:
THE SETUP
I am running Vista Ultimate, True Image 2010 (latest version available on site). I have 2 backup packages: a normal folder/files backup and an Outlook email backup.
THE PROBLEM
Both backups only partially restore when I set them restoring. It's as if there is too much for Acronis to do in one go. The file/folder backup seems to fully restore if I select a sub folder at a time. The Outlook one I can't get to fully restore. Sometimes it does more sometime less - never everything.
THINGS I'VE TRIED
Obviously Outlook is never opened when I try and restore and I have already opened Outlook after installation
Validating the archives (they validated)
Booting from boot cd and restoring from there (you cant do this with outlook backup but same problem with the other one)
Running on TI2009 (same problem)
Clean Vista install (3 x times now!) (same problem)
Changing priority of process thread to high (same)
Running on XP (same problem and complicated by the fact that Vista outlook has different folder structure to XP)
Contacting support (oh my goodness that was an experience! No help so far though I am still waiting for a response to an email from last week)
Please can anyone help? This has gone on for 2 weeks now and I have spent so many hours trying to get this working. I wish I had just backup up the .pst instead. There seems to be others with the same problem from a while ago ( http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/780546-acronis-true-image-… and http://www.wilderssecurity.com/archive/index.php/t-154117.html ) but it doesnt look like any published answers. Worse comes to the worst is there a way to extract the pst from the tib?
PS I did start a thread last week which Mudcrab responded to but as the problem has developed I thought I would start a new one.

yes you can extract the pst file or any other file or folder from the tib. for 1 file this is easier, for me anyways.
in windows explorer double clic on the tib you want and drill down to where the file is. right click on the file and then on copy. next go to where the outlook file is and paste it in. but** before you do any of that go into outlook and try to rename the file first, it will make pasting alot easier+++ you may to have to go into safemode to do it.
I almost forgot let me recommend this---after you press copy the file you might want to consider pasting the file 1st like in C:\ or on the desktop before trying to paste it in outlook just in case you have problem, so you don't keep going back to the tib..--- just a thought

Thanks for responding Mike. One of the problems is that Acronis' Outlook backup isn't a normal .tib. You can't explore it, mount it or decided where it will restore to - all these options are removed. This is what is making this whole process so much more difficult. In hindsight I should have just backed up the .pst rather than using this new and slightly flaky Outlook backup.
