Partition problem

Thread needs solution

I want to move from a 300gb HDD to a 256gb SSD.

I have the HDD in my laptop. It has 3 partitions - recovery, OS (C), and backup (D). I want to ONLY move OS (C) to the SSD. I don't want any additional partitions created. I am able to deselect recovery and backup (D) but the program still insists on making those empty partitions on the SSD. How can I stop this from happening?

Build 6613.

Thanks

Tyler, welcome to these user forums.

If you are using the ATIH 2015 Clone wizard to attempt to migrate your HDD to the SSD then this works only on the complete disk drive, you cannot move only one partition from the drive.

Assuming that you are running Windows 7 or later (or even Vista) then you will also have a System Reserved partition that contains vital Boot Configuration Data (BCD) that is required to allow Windows to boot correctly, so you must include that partition too.

Please see KB document: 48386: Acronis True Image 2015: Cloning Disks for more detailed information along with details of restrictions that apply to using cloning.

See also KB document: 56634: Acronis True Image 2016: Cloning Disks which includes a video tutorial of the process of cloning which is relevant to your version too.
