Password problems home 2010 samba
I've been using ATI for several years with the same setup.
I boot a PC from the boot disc and then backup the hard drive to a Samba share on linux server on the network.
The samba share has guest access and does not require a username or password. This has always worked fine with every version of ATI we have used.
When I try this with 2010 I get a password prompt, this prompt will not accept any credentials I try.
I am able to run the backups to a Windows server that requires a username and password.
Is guest access to an smb share possible from the boot CD?

Same issue here: Acronis TI B&R 10 WS v.11345 with Univ. Restore: I can see, map, handle, etc... all aspects of my Network shares on my NAS (WD My Book World Edition, which I *know* is linux-basd, but am only somewhat certain is Samba).
Either way, same problem.... Win 7 x64, can handle the shares just fine... in fact, ATI B&R 10 can, too, but it constantly asks for credentials. Usually the first time or two I enter them, it can even see inside the shared NAS folders... but then just a crazy cycle of constantly requesting credentials (the same ones I know work 'cause once in blue moon they actually do... and from inside the task scheduler, no less!).
But why more often than not does this fail? And if the backup fails to connect to the NAS, I am more worried that the Recovery CD will in the event of an emergency.
I have tried using the direct folder location (\\server\share...), I have tried resetting folder permissions to public, but nothing works.
And it used to work on previous iterations of True Image.
And it seems like there are alot of us with the same exact problem. We can't all suddenly have forgotten how to share folders or set permissions and policies.
Any update!?!?! If not, what can I provide you with that can help Acronis figure what is going on here.
I read a post elsewhere on these boards that posits that the problem is with certain letters being uppercase and others lowercase in either our server name and/or username. Believe it or not, I think they may be on to something. My server is named LooxNAS. Perhaps it only works when the capital lettering is just right? (For it to work sometimes in the scheduler and not others, it has to be something bizarre, perhaps syntax related like that).

Very Strange. I was able to map the network drive when I had both computers connected to a linksys router. when they were connected to the netgear switch it stopped working
