PC goes into standby mode during backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

if I use Windows 7 with standard energy save setups (e.g. stanbby after 30 min of inactivity) my PC goes to sleep although an Acronis backup is running (which usually takes longer than the 30 min).

If I then want to shut down the machine it says, the machine will be turned off automatically once the running operations are finished. But again, it goes to sleep after 30 min, without having finsihed the backup.

Now I have turned off that sleep mode, but this is not what one wants to do. How can I signal the system that it indeed is still busy with a backup and should only go to sleep, once the backup is done?

Many thanks and best wishes

Jossie

This may be of assistance. I use the Pre/post option to control my power schemes as per this pdf. If you have time,
read the pdf and it is very easy to implement. The post command resets the normal power setting and also shuts down the machine.

Grover,

This looks to be very helpful. I have a scenario where I would plugin an external HDD periodically to use as an off-site backup. Acronis has apparently dealt with the sleep issue when you have a scheduled job, but not when it's a one-time job. In my case, I'd like it to be unscheduled as I will control when the HDD plugs in (and subsequently the job) and don't want [daily] job failures.

When I click on the link, the PDF is no longer available - would you happen to still have a copy?

Many thanks,

Todd
