Please confirm transfer to new laptop steps are correct and please help with driver source

Thread needs solution

I am not sure what to do to get everything from an old laptop's hard disk onto a new laptop's hard disk
I have a desktop with Acronis True Image Home 2012.
I had a laptop but its motherboard got fried in a thunder storm, I have that old laptop's hard disk and a new (different hardware) laptop (both Win7). (And I'm renovating so the install disks are packed in a box somewhere. So rather than spend time finding the disks and then installing...)
I've read the help file for Acronis Universal Restore - I think this is what I should use
I've read section 7-B and
I think I need to
1. buy the plus pack.
2. then install it on my desktop
3. network share the laptop new internal drive and old laptop hard disk (which is plugged into the new laptop) so my desktop can see these drives..right?
3. download the drivers for the new laptop - Where from??? Where to - should it be to the dektop or a USB stick, which I then plug into the new laptop?
4. make bootable media using my desktop DVD drive but from the old hard disk?
5. back up the old laptop hard disk to an external drive plugged into my desktop
6. run the Acronis Universal Restore according to the section 7-B instructions
(Grover's Index http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426 section 7-B)

But am I right?
What stops the old Hp system partition being written to the new Toshiba?
What "preserves" the new Toshiba system?
Is there anything on the new system that I should keep e.g. preloaded software? And if so how?

Thanks very much

I have made progress.

It appears that I must remove the new HDD
and access both old and new drives from my desktop

Thanks Grover for the info at Grover's Index http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426 section 7-B

Helped me make the decision to try this myself
