Please insert first media

Thread needs solution

I am backing up a desktop computer to a USB expansion drive - a complete backup of the hard drive every night. When the expansion disk approaches capacity I delete manually one or more of the older backup files to make room for new backups.
The scheduled task has completed without a problem each night for the last week, but last night (and several manual attempts this morning) the backup has failed with the error message "Please insert first media". The only options on this dialog are Cancel and OK, and since there is no relevant "first media" to insert, neither of these options is any use to me.
Why am I getting this message and how do I stop ATIH looking for a "first media" that doesn't exist and has no relevance to a daily full backup?

You might try setting up your backup scheme based on keeping x number of backups rather than a manual delete. x can be a number of full according to your wishes. Allow enough extra space for one extra backups as TI will not delete the old until a replacement has been created. Start with a new task pointing to an empty destination folder or sub-folder. The keeping of x number seems to work better than any program deletion based on space or time limits.
