Possible to use the "Manual" Move method in disk cloning to move my Windows 7 partition to my new SSD?
I gather from old posts that Acronis True Image clones at the disk level, not at the partition level. So, if one wants to clone a partition, the best practice suggested seems to be using the backup and restore route.
My SSD came bundled with Acronis True Image HD 2012. From the manual it said that there is a "Manual" Move method, that allows one to manually set the sizes of the partitions on the target disk.
My migration plan is like this. On my old HD, there is a Windows 7 system partition (~200GB) and another partition for data (~1800GB). A rather typical setup. And I want to migrate the Windows 7 partition to my new SSD (256GB), and use the SSD as the boot drive.
Any chance I can clone my old HD to the new SSD, and by setting the new partition size on the SSD for the data partition to some thing very small (<56GB), such that I can migrate my boot system to the new SSD?
