Presales clarification on RAID support in True Image

Thread needs solution

I have read through the knowledge base articles on use of RAID volumes with TrueImage but I am still not entirely clear and I hope that someone can assist me.

I have a machine that has two raid volumes; one hardware and one software. The machine is running Windows 7 Pro. I want to be able to both backup and restore these volumes to a QNAP NAS. The user guide for TrueImage 2015 suggests that RAID is supported as a target drive but not source. Knowledge base articles are not clear, suggesting that Hardware RAID volumes are supported as source drives but not dynamic software RAID volumes.

The higher end commercial backup solution does seem to support all RAID types though.

Can anyone give a definitive answer?

Hello Simon,

sorry for the delayed answer.

In this article you'll find more information on RAID support in Acronis True Image. Please note that dynamic disk support is included in Acronis True Image 2015 license and you don't need additional installation of Plus Pack. It was important for older versions. Acronis True Image 2015 supports hardware RAID arrays of all popular types. Support of software RAID configurations on dynamic disks is also provided. Acronis Bootable Rescue Media supports most of the popular hardware RAID controllers. If the standard Acronis rescue media does not "see" the RAID as a single volume, the media does not have the appropriate drivers. In this case you can try to create WinPE-based rescue media. This media may provide the necessary drivers.
And information on several limitations on operations with dynamic disks you can find here.

Thank you.
