Problem attempting to backup unnamed system partition Acronis 2011 and Windows 7 64bit with SSD Drive

Thread needs solution

I have the latest version of Acronis 2011 and the Plus Pack. I use to be able to backup the primary system drive Windows formatted as a GUID disk. Partition 0 shows as EFI System Parition 100 MB (I believe it's formated as a FAT drive but been unable to verify if just FAT or FAT16, FAT32 etc. )
Partition 1 is formatted as NTFS - Drive C Windows 64 bit.
This is on a Corsair SSD Drive 128 GB.

I started about a week ago unable to do backups. Attempted backups using exising jobs resulted in showing calculating - but no progress at all - even after many hours. After power off and restarting system I would check the logs - they would show started but no indication of any problems or errors - just did not proceed as normal. I have since uninstalled Acronis - then reinstalled the latest version. I have tested backups sucessfully of Drive C, D, E as individual backups - then a backup of C, D, E and F combined. However, attempting to backup only the unnamed paritition results in system where the cursor moves, but nothing else works. Drive light indicates steady busy. This backup is so small it should be able to be done in minutes - and even if set to verify - should still only take a few minutes. Last attempt after about 1 hour system would still not respond, and I had to power off.

After system restarted, I checked and the log shows the backup WAS SUCCESSFUL in less than one minute.
The main page - shows the job as sucessful but after the job name - it shows as NOT BACKED UP.

Currently I have a job running for non-stop backup of drive C. It does not appear to have any issues.

As a separate issue, this is a fairly new system with an ASUS motherboard P8H67M EVO and it will not boot from anything other than WINDOWS 7 64bit install DVD and a SUSE 11 install disk. No other disk will work including WINDOWS 7 64 bit recovery disk, ACRONIS 2011 recovery disk, BARTPE, WIN PE, the motherboard utilities disk, and several other LINUX distributions and. That rules out attempting to test if I can backup this unnamed partition from the recovery CD. This issue has been reported to ASUS and ACRONIS.

I have looked thru the forum and the only problem I found somewhat close was an issue where when the backup finished it started a VERIFY which would appear to lockup the system. However, I checked and verify is turned off in the advanced tab of the job setup.

Where do I go from here? I hesitate to upgrade to the latest version and buy the plus pack without knowing if this problem can be solved.

Thanks

Phillip,

Does a manual task work on this partition?

Did you also re-install the PP and is it the same build as the main 2011 build?

No - a manual task does not work on the partition. And when I reinstalled ACRONIS - yes the True Image home and Plus Pack are the same version.

As an update - using the Non-stop update on the 'C' drive - resulted in a hung system - where the cursor works but unable to open any screen - Control-ALT-DEL will not call up the task list - unable to regain control of the system - had to shut down using the power switch.

Reset the BIOS options to make sure system is configured in most conservative mode - no turbo or any advanced features - and system still locks up.

Finally turned off this job - and system appears to return to normal - I can go away from the screen for hours and return - system still working. It's not power options as I have make sure set for performance mode - nothing turns off, sleeps or hibernates and no screen saver.
