Problems with create/modify tasks to nas seem to be related to synology, please sign in

Thread needs solution

Hi there

we already had a few diskussion about problemms tasks to network shares and i belive to remeber that many users wrote something about Synology nas (including myselve).

Meanwhile i noticed that my old DNS 323 works as intended and only my Synology 411 slim causes problem to create/modify tasks to the nas. I noticed that, if i have mounted one drive to each nas the problems only concern the 411 slim and all to the DNS 323 seems to work proper.

To see if this may possible you may sing in this thread and give too little information:

1. NAS Model.
2. problems or no problems to create/modify tasks

Thanks

S22

By the way: ATI2011 works without any problems with both server.

Hi,

Same experience: with a share on my Synology NAS DS207+ mapped to a drive letter, ATIH2012 is not able to browse the contents of this NAS which appears empty, but it has no problem with another one (a Med500X2 media center with NAS functionality - this one has a mapped share too).
As soon as I disconnect the Synology mapped share in Windows, ATIH2012 is able to see the contents of the NAS and I can create a task.
I can even map my share again without impact on ATIH2012 for the whole session. But when I reboot W7x64 with the share still mapped the problem with the Synology is back again.
I have been in touch with the Acronis support and already submitted these details.

Hi,

after a few hours of investigations for the differences betwen my DS411 and my DNS 323 i got an partial workaround.

1. Unmap all drives from windows.
2. remap thr drives but dont use the name of the netdrive within the UNC path. use the adress of the nas instead.
\\192.168.1.XXX\"netfolder"......
3. Restart windows.

Now it was possible for me to: create new tasks (via network environment-> "my nas"->....., i now was able to unfold and see the subfolders within acronis explorer) and to edit old tasks also if the drives are mapped.

Maybe some other could check if that helps a little.

Within Acronis Explorer i am still not able to browse/create new tasks if i go the way via the windows mapped drive. There i cant see any files or subfolders. But all seems to work if i go the network environment way.

One difference between the windwos shares to the dns 323 and the 411 slim is that there are some unix rights to the DNS 323 (for DS411 slim there is unly one user : everybody). If in rightklick-> properties on the shares within windows ther is an aditional card for the DNS323 called "DFS" that is not present for the DS 411. There have also been some small diffrences in rights but change them did make no difference for the problem.

May be some of you have more expirience in such network issues.

I have the same issues described (Synology DS 1010+ running DSM 3.1-1748)... Using the IP address would do me little good since the address can change. I hope they get this fixed soon else I will be asking for a refund!

BTW: Using the DNS name would make more sense in my opinion instead of the IP address.

Hi Binary,

so i am lucky that i allwas have fixed IPs in my very small network.

"BTW: Using the DNS name would make more sense in my opinion instead of the IP address."
well of course your right again but what should i do if this dont work. And as is said: its only a workaround.

Sorry if this dont help you.

S22,
No disrespect was floating your way (if taken that way).

All I was trying to say was I personally find dns names are easier for me ( and explain to my wife and kids). I just really hope they (acorns) gets these many issues fixed quickly, else I will be testing the whole refund thing.
