Problems with starting backup processes manually

Thread needs solution

Hello there,

I created 2 backup tasks with a plan.
1. Monday, Wednesday, Sunday backups on an internal HDD
2. Friday backups on an external HDD

Somestimes the recovery on the external HDD wont start because the user
forgot to plug it in and so on .... So I made a shortcut of the task on the desktop.
When I try to start it manually nothing happens. Furthermore I tried to start the backup
in the acronis GUI with the button "Start now" .... again nothing happens ;(

Any idea?

Greetings!

Is there any chance that the drive letter of the external backup is changing? If yes, try to assign a fixed drive letter using the windows disk management console (right click on the computer icon on your desktop, manage, storage - right click on the disk and choose change drive letters and path.)

Hello Pat,

good idea but thats not the reason for this problem.
This was also my first thought.

Could it be that this is a bug? Got the same problem on an
other PC. Everytime when I try to click the button "Start now"
nothing happens ;(

Hello Chris and Pat,

Thank you for your posts and your help Pat.

Chris, it is possible one of our processes crashes before the backup starts, we will need to check Windows event logs. Could you post the system report here?

Could you also clarify if this issue occurs only when you try to run the backup to your external drive?

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Pat,

seems that this occurs only when I use my external HDD. The volume is mounted and I can access it via the explorer.
When I try to access via the shortcut in Acronis i get the following message:

Good morning everybody,

I found something out ! When you connect the external HDD before
windows starts it´s possible to start a backup as many times as you want.

I guess that must be bug or something. Does nobody else got such problems? :O
