Program does not run after most recent Windows 8 update

Thread needs solution

Acronis True Image 2013 hangs when starting after Windows update. I have checked the backup drive which is accessible from Explorer and reinstalled/repaired Acronis. It just hangs. Have rebooted several times. Any suggestions?

Try to run ATI in a clean boot environment to see if that makes any difference: launch msconfig, disable all non-microsoft services and all startup items.

If that doesn't solve it, uninstall ATI, run the cleanup utility, reboot, reinstall in the clean boot environment.

Thanks for the suggestions. Neither worked, I ran windows cleanup which is what I assumed you meant by cleanup utility after uninstalling ATI. Downloaded very latest windows 8 updates - rolled back new video driver still just sits there when invoked.

I haven't booted my W8 system this week, is this update from this Tuesday?

I'll boot my laptop when I get home and see if i can replicate the problem.

Seem to have been a lot today and yesterday - 42 components last night and another 170 or so meg file today - Windows 64 bit.

I have Windows 8 pro and my system is up to date. I'll see if I am missing any update over the next couple of days.

Problem turned out to be corrupted registry from update problem. Had to "freshen" the computer as the CD drive failed because of registry errors. Now running. Thanks for the help.
