Purchase after trial question

Thread needs solution

I currently have ATIH 2010 and may possibly upgrade to 2012

Before I upgrade, I wanted to downloading the trial version to check it out....... but before I do, I have two questions

1) Will 2012 uninstall or change anything with my current 2010 version in case I don't want to purchase 2012.

2) If I do like 2012, I would like to upgrade to the family pack after the trial. Will the trial version unlock to a single PC license or will I have the option of buying the family pack license and use the same trial install with a family pack serial number.

I am also curious if I will have to uninstall the trial and install the family pack version I want or will the new family pack SN unlock it to that version. I just don't want to get locked into a single license should I decide I like the trial

I just want to know what I am getting into before I start a trial

Thanks for any help you can provide

1) Yes. 2012 will override your 2010 version. Make sure you create a complete system backup (all partitions on your system disk) with 2010 before you install the trial.

First, try to uninstall 2010, go to msconfig and turn off all start up items and non-microsoft services, reboot and install the trial. If that works, you are home. Restore the msconfig configuration and use the computer. If not, restore your previous system and try to install on top of 2010, after having turn off the msconfig items like previously.

2) Either way will work. If you buy the famiy pack, just activate your trial with the new license. No need to uninstall the trial.

Thanks Pat

I am glad I didn't install it before reading your reply

one more question, if the 212 overrides my 2010, will I be able to re install my 2010 if I uninstall the 212 trial?

Some software doesn't like to do that

Many users have had installation and uninstallation issues with 2012. You can try to uninstall and reinstall 2010.

But make sure you have a 2010 backup you can restore if needed.
