Question about Activaton
OK...so I installed and activated 2014 Premium on my laptop last night. I have been having issues with the main SATA cable, and this morning the machine crashed. New SATA cable is being delivered today, and I am going to have to reinstall the OS from scratch. With that said...will I be able to re-activate? What is the protocol for this kind of situation??? Wasn't able to back up the machine before this...
Thanks

When I installed on a new computer, I went through the activation process on the new system. The activation process alerted me that it was still active on an old installation. It directed me to a link on the Acronis web site that allowed me to deactivate the previous installation. Someone else may be able to confirm that it works the same way when installing a new drive in a system and restoring.

Thanks for the info. Can't believe a bad SATA cable caused all of this. Luckily the new one arrives from HP today. Unfortunately...the "short" caused the 8 mb bug on my Intel SSD. So I am going to get another brand SSD and reinstall from scratch. Same machine and all...gonna be a lot of work over the weekend. Just after I upgraded my install of 2104 to Premium, too. If someone else can confirm this is how it's done...would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks again

See this comment about ATIH 2014 Build 6614, which generally agrees with my experience:

• A new wizard for moving product licenses - When you have a 1-PC True Image license and you install the product on the second PC, you will get the "Too many activations" issue. There are different ways to resolve it. The new wizard leads you to the correct decision by asking you a few simple questions.
Maybe that helps you.
