Question for True Image Home 11 users running Win7 64-bit....

Thread needs solution

I need to know if anyone with TI Home 2011 & Win7 - AND has previously cloned their OS drive -has successfully installed the SP1 service pack for Win7.

I have been trying for 3 days now with no success. I'm not sure if Acronis is the cause, but I'm trying to narrow down the possible causes of my problem.

Thanks.

Once a week I swap out my main hard drive for one from a previous week and then run a full HDD restore from an image that has just been created. This leaves me with the original HDD untouched and the replacement drive is to all intents and purposes a "clone" of the first drive. SP1 installed with no problems at all and I have just swapped over drives again following another sucessful image/restore sequence.

I have never used the Acronis method of directly cloning one HDD to another because it is a process that is vunerable to several possible failures most of which are non-recoverable whereas image/restore to a swapped drive is bomb proof.

Thanks. I've never had any problems cloning with Acronis & I've done it many times.
I know that Win 7 now has the same cloning feature - which is what you are doing. I should have done my cloning via Windows restore.
I have read on another forum that 3rd party cloning software may alter some of Windows root files, causing issues installing SP1.
I still would like to know if anyone has been successful installing SP1 when they had previously used Acronis to clone their HD.
