Recover File backup - can;t figure out how to do this in gui

Thread needs solution

Hi

I've TI2013 that i used to backup a file folder of around 30 GB. last night I do an incremental backup where I create a new full backup every 7 cycles or one a week. It happened to result in a full backup last night. I was getting some disk error on the drive and was going to replace the drive today. The backup completed at 5:00 AM this morning and was successful. I included a validation step.

Now the disk appears to have gone out. I can't figure out a way to recover the backup to a new disk drive. When I try to read the backup file with the gui, it tells me it's corrupted. So I moved the last 7 days to a distant folder and tried again. The gui still wants to open a more recent backup.

All my backups are located on a server so I went to another computer the had TI2013 on it. Since the task is not on this computer, I browsed to where the backup is and added it to the backup list. turned favorites off and now pages of backups show. But I can't get to the backup I want. Tried scrolling down but after a bit the screen blinks and I lose postion. No way I've been able to find the task I added.

So tired to directly open the backup file and then copy the files. I think this would work but it looks like it would take days to extract  the full 30 GB.

When I've done partition restores before, I used the acronis recovery cd. Is that what I need to use? For a system recovery, that makes sense since the computer might not be able to boot.  But for folder recovery, seems rather silly that I can't use the gui to do this task.

okay, think I figured out how to do this with the gui. I ignored the message that the backup was corrupted. Then selected recover in UR corner of backup list. Stepped back 1 day backup which should be prior to the last backup saying it's corrupted. The recovered to a different location since I haven't yet added in the replacement disk. Seems to be working, 16 minutes left to go.
