Recovering to a completely new disk
Hi,
I've backed up my hard disk on an USB harddrive. I have a second harddrive in my PC and I'd like to restore the backup onto this one as the first drive seems close to a crash. The second drive wasn't used so far so there aren't any partitions on it.
When selecting the TIB file from the USB disk, Acronis prompts for three partitions to be restored. I select all of them. Unfortunately, I can't restore them as the software wants a place to restore the partitions to. I can say "Unused space" for the fortst partition, but everytime I try to set the destination place for the second, "Unused space" is grayed and cannot be choosen.
So - how do I restore a TIB-file that contains several partitions onto a completely fresh hard drive? Do I really have to create partitions by installing windows on the new drive first?
I thought there would be a way to restore a hard disk on a new drive as a 100% copy - especially as the new drive is of the same type as the old one.
I'll be happy with every hint!
Best
Mark
