Recovering TIB files

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis True Image Home 2010. I'm trying to recover some files but it pops up this message when I hit recover on the TIB file: Acronis True Image cannot detect volume 1 of "vistasystemstate"(a different backup) archive.

I don't remember exactly if I did a full backup or an incremental backup but is there a way to browse or view the files in the .tib file without going back to an earlier system state? I have copied the .tib files to my internal hd by the way.

Use Windows Explorer and treat the .tib file like a folder .... double click to open it and keep double clicking subsequent icons until you drill down to the individual files of interest. Once there you can copy them - or even whole folders for that matter.

I tried opening it but I get this error everytime and it crashes explorer.exe

If Windows Explorer crashes then I would suspect that you have a bad .tib file. And this might have been caused by bad sectors on the hard drive. Run chkdsk /r on the drive and see if any errors are reported. Then if you're in a position to make another Image of the entire drive, do so. If there are data files that you cannot afford to lose copy them using Windows Explorer to another hard drive.

I just did a full check disk on my external hard drive and it shows no errors found. Any other ideas why I can't access the tib files? I already backed them up into my internal hard drive.

What build number of 2010 do you have? Try making another backup but this time use the bootable Rescue CD to do so.

I'm using build 5.055 . When I try bootable Rescue CD it only saves the acronis true image program.

K, when I booted the pc and press F11 to access acronis true image it still gives me the same error when I try to recover the tib files. I think the tib files are just data and it might have been an incremental back up because when I choose the recovery option it defaults to the system state backup. So would the only way to gain access to the files again is to recover to the system state and then try the recover again?

Build 5055 is one of the better builds of version 2010. I don't understand your statement, "When I try bootable Rescue CD it only saves the acronis true image program". When the Rescue CD boots, you should see a Menu that allows you to launch the True Image program. Launch True Image then do another backup.
