Recovery CD not recognizing SSD

Thread needs solution

I am using an i5 in a EVGA P67 motherboard with a SSD for drive C and four HDD's in the cabinet for backups. I have always had good luck with True Image over the years getting me out of a jam using the image restore via the Recovery CD.

This morning a USB 3.0 device for some reason caused a BSOD. My computer would not boot any longer from the SSD. I thought "no problem" I will just restore my image backup from one of the HD's as I have done many times in the past. For some reason the TI 2014 recovery CD did not recognize the SSD. I also noticed the SSD did not appear in the BIOS either. Now I got a bit worried so I figured I would try installing a fresh copy of Windows on the SSD and see if it was recognized by the Windows install procedure. The Windows installation did indeed see the SSD and installed fine. I then used the TI 2014 recovery CD. It saw the SSD no problem and I was able to recover my image at that point.

I cannot figure out why the TI 2014 recovery CD and/or BIOS would not recognize the SSD until after I installed a fresh copy of Windows.
