Recovery failed :/

Thread needs solution

I have just the one hard drive split into 2 partitions C: and E: C drive being where Windows was stored and E drive where I stored my backups. I recently tried to restore my system from a backup stored on E: but all that happened was it deleted the C: drive but didn't restore it. Now when I try to restore it, it gives me the error 'Can't find a hard drive'. Is there anyway I can still restore my system?

Perhaps you made an error in what you selected during the restore.

Copy the backup to an external HD. Boot from the ATI bootable Rescue Media and try to restore C:.

Storing backups on the same drive that is being backed up is no security at all. If that drive fails, you'd lose your system, data and your backups.

Also, the safest backup is a full disk mode backup. Many users backup only C: and, when they have to restore, they discover that C: alone does not create a bootable system. Often there are hidden partitions that are necessary.
