If you change the view to disk mode, can you take a screen shot and post that.

At the moment it looks as though you are trying to store the image on the same partitions that you are imaging.

I would also suggest at a later date you give your partitions labels to make it easier to differentiate between drives and partitions. This can be done via Windows Explorer or Windows Disk Management.

What happens if you use the recovery CD to recover the image?

No dude I'm not selecting within the same drive . It seem ATI is having problems with WD and I wish ATI would address this issue . I hate not knowing what next . Maybe ATI should get them self a WD drive with the AF ... Please Acronis don't keep us WD folks confused as what to do , Let us know your doing something , anything ... Thanks

No different same results

I would suggest that you use the Acronis tool "add a new disk" to initialize the WD disk as MBR, but do not create any partitions. Then try the restore to the WD disk's unallocated space.

I have several WDC disks as well as Seagate, Toshiba, Maxtor, Samsung, Fujitsu, etc. and have never had this issue.

Acronis is seeing the partitions that you have created on the WDC drive, and refusing to restore the backup to the pre-partitioned space.

You can also use Windows command line utility to "clean" the WDC drive before attempting the restore operation, but the Acronis "Add a new disk" tool does the same thing.

Can you explain how I can do such if by what your suggesting I will only have one partition were as I need to have more than one . I need to have the recovery partition in case my windows ever gets corrupted but I still will see if it can be done . Thanks

You will have "no" partitions on the WDC target disk when you start the restore process after using the "add a new disk" tool to "clean" off the partition information from the WD drive. You can then restore each partition to the un-allocated space on the drive. Each time you add a partition to restore, Acronis will mark that space as allocated on the WD drive, and the remaining space on the drive will still be unallocated, allowing restore of your additional partition to the remaining unallocated space. Be sure to also restore the MBR to the WD drive or it won't be bootable.

No, I'm sorry that doesn't work If I un-allocated HDD space there no drive to select and once I do create one I still can't because its greyed out were you can't select it

Open Windows Disk Management and click "view" on the toolbar, then select "Top" then "Disk list".
Capture this screen and post it here.
Lets take a look at what Windows sees.

Well guys thanks so far for your assistance . I think I might of figure it out , the drive isn't being recognized in the bios . So now I going to get that working , crossing my fingers

A full format will not make any difference, but will remap any bad sectors the format may come across. This will happen without your knowledge. A better approach would be to use the Windows command line utility "diskpart" to "clean" the drive and attempt the restore operation again from your 2013 bootable Rescue Media.

Open a command prompt:

type "diskpart" (no quotes) and press enter

type "list disk" and press enter

type "select disk X" where X is the drive number (in the "list") you wish to use (the WD drive) and press enter.
Be sure to select the correct disk. To be sure, after the "select disk X" command,

type "detail disk" and press enter.
This will display the disk details. Make SURE it shows the WD disk.
If not, start at "list disk" again, then re-select the correct disk with "select disk".
Be sure you have the right disk selected!

This next step will "WIPE" your file system and partition information from the selected disk.

type "clean" and press enter

type "exit" (to leave "diskpart") and press enter

type "exit" (to close the Command prompt) and press enter

If Windows wishes to initialize your WD disk, go ahead and use MBR, but do not create any partitions of format the drive.

Boot to your 2013 media and try the restores.
You may have to use the "add a new disk" tool for Acronis to be able to see the disk before the restore.

James, thanks for that but it still doesn't help and I placed the hard drive within the laptop so that the bios could see it , which it does but still no go ... ACRONIS why are you hiding all my posts and only leave just the original first thread ? If I log in I'm able to view all my posts but once I log out they are all hidden , Does this have something to do with my post count ?

Even were I posted in Smoky thread is hidden .... How Strange

Terry,

I'm at a loss as to why your system and Acronis True Image don't work well together with the WDC disk. I'm afraid I'm all out of suggestions.

Since this is a restore/recovery issue, Acronis will provide free support if you start a support case with them.
I will also bring this thread to the attention of the Forum moderator(s), so be sure to start a support cased so that they can be tied together.

As far as the posts not showing when you are logged out of the Forums, I have seen this with my posts too. I think there is some mechanism that delays the postings from being made public right away, so that Acronis has control over what is publicly viewable until after review. (Only a guess, but I would have a Forum set up this way if I was the owner/moderator.)

Ok thanks ... Though I am sure that I wouldn't be the last with this same problem

Ok ... Just thought it was odd , thanks

No help from Acronis unless I Pay Per Incident support program which I will not ... This problem will keep arising and we shall see how Acronis deals with it .......... Thanks

Terry,

As I posted in the other Forum topic you have been posting your issue in, Acronis support for restore/recovery is at "no charge" (free).

Go to www.acronis.com/support/contact-us.html

In Step 1 on the left hand side pull-down, select Technical Issues/Questions, on the right hand side pull-down, select "I am using Full Version"
You will be required to login to your Acronis account.
Once you have logged in, select your product from the pull-down list (True Image 2013 by Acronis)
Skip Step 2, and look for the option "To solve recovery issue: Click here ?" located in the center of the screen directly under "Buy Pay per incident" and select the "Click here" link to the right of "To solve recovery issue" to enable the options below. See attached screen shot. (My free support has also expired, but as you can see the Email and Chat options are available.)

When I try to perform a complete Image creation/validation from bootable media, all works nominally and Acronis tells me the process is complete and shows me the .tib file on a separate drive. Then I go back to W8 to examine the size of my image and the file has disappeared!!

I even go back to the Acronis Bootable media and it can't find any .tib files!!

Any suggestions??

Thanks,
