recovery media does not see my netbook's onboard micro SD slot as a drive to backup/restore

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I want to backup and restore to a micro SD card in my netbook's sd card slot.
Unfortunately, when I boot with recovery media, it does not see the micro SD card as source for storage.

However, the sd card runs well under Windows.

I believe this is a missing driver issue on the Acronis bootable media.

How can I solve this ?

I've tried this with also Acronis TI 2010.
My netbook is Sagem Spiga. It is rather an old device but I have the device drivers for Windows XP and Windows 7.

thx.

It sounds like you have a compatibility issue with the SD card and Linux which runs the Bootable Media app. I would suggest that you create a WinPE disk so that you can run the app in a Windows environment since you have drivers for it. Look at the Stickys of this Forum for Mustangs WinPE build. This should do the trick.

thanks for your reply. But I couldn't find a image to use as you defined. There's a guide to build for myself but I don't have Win 8.1. That's why I can2t build myself.

Can you upload a ready image to use for this purpose ? Or is there anywhere that I could find it ?

Follow the link in my signature. You can choose the WAIK version for Windows 7. Before you start be aware you need the Premium version of TI to make WinPE recovery media.

I didn't understand what I have to download and do what.
The company that I work for has premium version pf TI.
So I can make a WinPE recovery media ?

But how ?

In Mustang's post look for the colored text below his signature. That is a link to the downloads you need.

I understand that. But inthe downloads page there are several options and I don'tknow which one is the one that gives me a bootable Acronis recovery disk.

The recovery app is built into the WinPE download. Simply choose your desired OS version.

I still couldn't find the image.
On the downloads page there is a program named WinPE builder.

Where is the image you're talking about ?

ps. I also tried to solve my problem with older version of the TI but still couldn't see my micro SD card.

You have to click on the Paypal icon which will take you to the download page after purchase.

the paypal button sent me to a donate page at paypal. but after the donation it took me to the same page back.
there's no new downloads ?

You are looking for an image of a WinPE disk with True Image installed to download. To provide such an image is illegal and violates both Microsoft's and Acronis' license agreement. If you can't build a WinPE with the information provided, you need to move on.

I understand what's illegal at this.
But I don't understand the instructions given here.
First somebody says that there is an image which might solve my problem.
(in fact, I am not interested in using WinPE, but if that's the solution I can try)

Then when I check the downloads provided, I can't find the image. I only can find a software which can create the image. (if I download and install WAIK)
Then somebody says I have to donate to get access to the image file.
I try and donate a small amount, but then I can't get access to the image again.

Then you say if I can't build it myself, I need to move on.
What does "move on" mean ?
Pardon me but I am not a native English speaker. I don't know what you mean by "move on" :(

*** again, I am not interested in doing anything illegal. all I am interested is to have access to my micro SD slot from the Acronis recovery boot media. That should be legal, right ?

@Mustang , please tell me clearly what I have to download on your downloads page.
As far as I can see , I can only download WinPE builder software. But to use it I have to install a 1.7GB sized WAIK image from Microsoft.
I don't have that much space on the device that I want to use Acronis on.
So, I can't install WAIK.

If there's a ready image , I would like to try it. Some answers on this thread say that I could find such image on your page.

Sorry for the confusion.

You will not be able to make a WinPE disk without downloading the WAIK (for Windows 7) or the ADK (for Windows 8). There is no ready made image available.

Steps for building MustangPE:

1. You must have the Premium version of True Image 2014 installed on the computer you are using to build MustangPE with True Image 2014. This is a requirement from Acronis.

2. You need to download and install the WAIK or ADK. To save space, you only need to install the Deployment Tools and Windows PE. There are many other features that do not need to be installed.

3. You need to select the WAIK or ADK version of MustangPE depending on which has been installed in step 2 above.

4. Click the link for Available MustangPEBuilder 2 Plugins and download the plugin for True Image 2014.

5. Unzip the downloads in steps 3 and 4 above. Run the setup exe for MustangPEBuilder and follow the instructions in the ReadMe.txt files for MUstangPEBuilder and the Acronis True Image 2014 plugin.

thanks for the detailed explanation.

I understand the steps, however they really need some long time to achieve all and some space on the disk for the WAIK or ADK.
From one of the answers in this thread I misunderstood "The recovery app is built into the WinPE download. Simply choose your desired OS version."

this answer seemed like I would be able to just download a ready image.

In any case if I follow the steps you described, we are still not sure that I will be able to run Acronis and access my micro SD slot.
I would prefer to have a simpler solution like just adding drivers to the original Acronis recovery media.

Isn't there such solution ?

Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion, I did word that response bad, my apologies again. Unfortunately there is probably no other solution to your problem. A WinPE disk with Acronis TI plugin is your best option.

what about the WinPE iso builder of Acronis TI 2014 ?

it asks for the plugin from Acronis site. is it the same plugin from Mustang's download page ?

The Acronis plugin is not the same as MustangPE. It requires much more work. It also requires you to download and install the WAIK.
