Recovery Tab - open version throws an error

Thread needs solution

Hi,

running the latest Acronis TI 2013 on Windows 7, Ultimate, I'm getting an error while trying to open a version file from within the Windows Explorers file properties dialog, see attachment 1.

First what's confusing, the version history lists a file that is not available anymore, perhaps this is due to any consolidating process I've set up in TI2013. However, I don't know exactly. Can sbdy explain this?

Second when opening a version I get the error as listed in another attachment. This error tells me that it cannot find a backup file.
Why is Acronis trying to open a backup file different from that it lists in the history? Anyway, this backup file does exist as shown in a different attachment. I can open this backup file w/o any problems.

Though what's the deals with this error messages and those requested backup files?

Thanks,
Michael

Are all these files from one single task? If yes, there are files missing.

Is your backup files being split into multiple files rather than one single file when a backup is created? The numbering of v9, v10, v11 would seem to indicate a spllit.

From first appearances, it would seem that Acronis has become lost.
Resort you storage folder based on date/time header for easier display of what has happended.
My suggestion would be to create a new task or tasks and if using several tasks, put each task in its own sub-folder. No mixing of task.
I can't tell for sure what your backup scheme might be but here is a suggestion which will not involve any consolidation.  Adjust the 6 and 4 to fit your needs.

Thanks GroverH for this prompt reply.

I've now deleted all previous backups and started over using the backup plan as suggested. For now I've got a single file, full backup.
However, I still cannot open the backup file from Windows explorer file/folder properties although it's available as seen in my attached hardcopy. When opening manually from the appropriate backup device, I did not encounter any problems.

Hence still the question: why this behaviour?

I have never tried to access my file via properties.
From within Windows explorer, have you tried
RIGHT click on the *.tib file and choose the OPEN option from the Menu
( FYI: there is also a TrueImage folder with options via the right click selection which is not needed for this option)
next, you should be able to browse down the backup directory tree to the folder/file you wish.

Really, you should try it ;-) I was looking for how many versions Acronis has already stored on my backup device w/o starting Acronis itself.

No problems in this case: A new Explorer window opens and I can browse the included files. Only the "same" procedure from within the Explorer's properties page fails.
