Reinstalling Windows from OEM recovery discs and recovering my files & data with Acronis TI 2013

Thread needs solution

I have a gateway DX4840 Gateway with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium desktop came new without recovery media, only instructions on how to make your own recovery discs. I made the discs the first day I purchased the machine new. Can I use these discs to do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and then use my Acronis True Image 2013 program to restore my data after I reinstall Acronis?

Sincero,

You mention you made recovery disks, what did you use the Windows 7 Backup or System Recovery CD or did you use True Image?

Making a complete disk image using True Image either to an external drive or to DVD's is the better way of making a complete PC image.

Where or what backed up your data?

These original recovery discs were made when the computer was new using the gateway program and before I purchased Acronis. They have the Windows 7 OEM install on them as well as all the programs that the computer came with from the factory. Gateway prompts you to make them as soon as you finish with the initial set up. This was done a couple years ago when I first purchased the computer new. The current data is backed up on ATI 2013 as a full disc and partitions back up stored on a Seagate 1 TB external hdd. I used Acronis Migrate Easy to clone the original hdd. When I installed ATI 2013 the installation instructed me to remove Migrate Easy. I then upgraded my hdd to a 2 TB WD Green and cloned it with TI 2013. Now whenever I reboot I have to go into the boot menu and click the new drive which is at the top of the menu in order to get it to boot. The boot is in a different partition than the system. See attachment.
