Remote Resource Credentials and EventCode 0x004000D (True Image 2014)
I am testing if I can boot a laptop from an Acronis True Image 2014 "bootable media" CD and then restore the laptop's disk from *.tib backup file on the network. So far, the test fails. The laptop boots from the CD and present me with an option of running Windows or Acronis T.I. Selecting the later, then go through the steps to locate the backup image on the network. At that point, I get the message:
"You have selected a remote resource and have not specified credentials for it. Do you want to continue?" If I click Yes I get another error message that the file is corrupt, and Event Code 0x0004000D.
I have no idea what "credentials" it is looking for. Password? User name? The program give me no options to enter ANYTHING.
History:
I had True Image-2014 installed on an WinXP laptop. I wiped the OS and installed Win7 Pro 32-bit. Then I reinstalled TI-2014, and also created a bootable CD.
The laptop sits on a system with a Western Digital MyCloud NAS. That appears as just another computer on the network. I can see and access it from Windows Explorer on the laptop.
Running T.I.-2014, I created a full backup on the NAS drive, using the optional "verify backup after creation". Just to double check, I then separately verified the backup using the tools. So I'm very confident the backup is NOT corrupt.
Notes:
1. "Recovery Wizard" has no problems finding the Western Digital unit on the network, and I have no problems selecting the backup *.tib file. So it clearly can read it.
2. The backup was not created with password protection.
-------------
I must add that I find in appalling and infuriating the Acronis offers NO support for a 3-year old product. I've tried looking up the Event (error) code at the https://kb.acronis.com/errorcode page and it won't accept anything older than True Image 2016. Acronis only seems interested in selling the latest product and once they have your money, you are on your own.

Hi Steve. Thanks for the pointers, while I'll pursue and report back here if I find a solution.
Regarding Acronis support: Looking at the table you posted, I see support for TI 2014 ended...wait for it.. in September 2014! They didn't even support it through the end of the year! TI 2015 was even worse: it had only 11 months total.

Carl, thanks for the update, wish you good luck with finding a solution that works for you.
With regards to support, there are two different columns with dates, mainstream and extended, and we tend to work on the latter which does cover a longer period. Acronis have responded to lots of customer complaints about their original 30-day support only policy and now give up to 2 years of Support starting with 2016 which shows this 2 year gap between the Release date and the Extended Support end date.
