removing partial incremental backup files?

Thread needs solution

I am a using Acronis True Image Home 12 to back up my computer. I use incremental backups twice a month and they generate files that are 4gb to 11gb. Over the months I am getting a huge amount of backups in regards to filling up a hard drive all by itself.
Can I delete some of the backups?
And still be able to restore the most resent backups?
Do I need to keep the first file in the set and then delete intermediate ones?
do I have to use the consolidation utility first?

I can’t seem to find any information on this subject in the help files

Hello Kurt,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here.

In case you're using incremental backups you cannot remove any of them in the chain if you want to be able to restore the most recent ones, as they depend on each other, as well as on the initial full backup/ Lose one in the line - and all the rest that were created after it become useless.

In your situation I would advise you to create differentials backup. They depend on the full archive only, so you will be able to remove the unnecessary previous messages (keep the full backup though).

Check this KB article for more details.
