Renamed/moved/deleted files with backup/restore

Thread needs solution

Does backup recognize file/folder renaming/moved/deleted and when restoring will you get the older versions restored as well. I'm using Incremental backup, so have one full, and incrementals later. Are these kind of changes/modifications taken into account or will every thing (deleted, etc.) over time be restored when you don't want them any more as they were previously (before last incremental)?

Assuming your are doing disk/partition backups: When you restore a disk image backup, it will be restored to the date/time you specify. If your restore a backup dated today from set that included a full and several incrementals previous to today as well as todays incremental, you will only get the files/folders that exisited on your system when the last incremental was done. If you need to restore files/folders from earlier versions, you count mount the backup image from that date/time and copy the files you need to your hard disk.

Yep. A backup is a snapshot (image) of the state of your disk. When you restore any full or incremental, the disk will be back to the state it was when the corresponding snapshot/image was taken.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping but I couldn't find any documentation on that.
